Koroška galerija likovnih umetnosti Glavni trg 24, 2380 Slovenj Gradec

There are over 2,600 works of foreign and domestic artists on display, which are completed by large collection sets, among which also the collection of Jože Tisnikar, a painter from Koroška.

The Koroška Gallery of Fine Arts is a museum of visual arts focusing on collecting and studying the art from the second half of the 20th century. It is regarded as an important social institution which uses its programme to address current issues and highlights the content frequently left out of the general discourse. The Gallery is a museum of national importance since it carries out the public service of protecting movable cultural heritage and also interacts with international museum networks. In particular, it focuses on children's and adult education programmes which form an important part of its policy to be a public space offering a possibility to educate and develop critical thought. In addition to exhibition and administration facilities in the centre of Slovenj Gradec, the Koroška Gallery of Fine Arts also manages the Ravne Gallery, located at the Ravne na Koroškem Cultural Centre, in terms of its programme. Today, its collection includes about 2,600 works. These are works of numerous foreign and local authors and special large collection sets, such as the Jože Tisnikar collection and the Homage to Tisnikar collection – it links the works of Slovenian and foreign authors with topics related to Tisnikar – and the collection of works of France Berneker, Bogdan Borčić, Valentin Oman, Štefan Planinc and Pino Poggi. The gallery keeps and complements a special collection that has started to take shape during exhibitions under the auspices of the United Nations 1996–1985 and comprises international fine art works dealing with current issues, such as war, migrations, social inequalities, etc. Special attention is dedicated to the contemporary artistic production, in particular regional artists and also artists from all over Slovenia.
