3 Days of Koroška Tradition
Day 1 – Steelworkers and Miners
Upon arrival at Koroška, we discover the heart of its industrial past. Accompanied by a guide, we descend into the mine and catch a glimpse into the lives of the miners who searched for “black gold” underground. This is followed by a visit to Polh’s Mill, where locals show us how grain was once ground and flour prepared. We continue our journey to Šentanel, where a lunch featuring traditional Koroška dishes awaits us. In the afternoon, we visit Štauharija, an interactive ironmaking museum that brings the story of ironworkers to life in a modern way. We spend the evening at a tourist farm, embraced by peace and homeliness.
Day 2 – On the Farm
The day is dedicated to nature and authentic farm life. After breakfast, we head to Uršlja Gora, a 1,698-meter-high viewpoint offering a panoramic view across the entire Koroška region. We also visit the highest-lying church in Slovenia. There is an option for an excellent lunch at the mountain hut. In the afternoon, the locals on the farm show us their daily work—from caring for animals to preparing homemade delicacies. We conclude the evening in a relaxed manner, with pleasant conversation and the scent of homemade bread.
Day 3 – Wood and Fire
After breakfast and checking out from the farm, we visit the timber rafters, who lead us with great humor and pride back to the time when they transported wood along the Drava current and built bridges between people. We learn about their courage, skill, and connection to the river. In the afternoon, we visit a blacksmith’s workshop, where we feel the power of the old craft by the fire and the sound of the hammer. Under the master’s guidance, we create our own iron emblem—a unique souvenir of an unforgettable journey along the paths of tradition.
