About Mežica

Mežica is a town where miners have sought metals and minerals since Roman times, making it a true Alpine and mining tourist hub of the Mežica Valley. In the vicinity of Mežica, you will find numerous well-preserved hiking trails, tourist farms, and mountain huts. Today, beneath Mount Peca, the former mine has been transformed into a tourist attraction where you can experience the work of miners on a guided tour by train, which takes you into the heart of Peca. For the more active, a cycling tour of the Peca Underground: Tourist Mine and Museum is also available, where you will cycle through the tunnels on mountain bikes. The Kayaking Tour, the most attractive 5* adventure in the mine, is an experience where you embark on a unique journey through underground tunnels by kayak, more than 700 meters below the surface. This activity is available all year round, regardless of the weather. Black Hole Trail: Ride the legendary Black Hole Trail – one of the most unique cycling experiences in the world. It is hidden deep inside Mount Peca. This underground trail takes you through abandoned mining tunnels, combining adrenaline, mystery, and a true adventure. Mežica is also known for beekeeping: using bees and their products, they create a true balm for body and soul, which is why Api-tourism is developing, not to mention honey massages.
