Enchanting in white. The snow-covered landscape offers a number of outdoor activities despite its serenity. Perhaps King Matjaž himself will be awakened by all the wonderful snow sculptures and castles that are being set up in Podpeca each year at the end of January.

Cross-country skiing enthusiasts will find great trails at Pohorje plains, between Kope and the Ribniška Koča cabin, in Črna na Koroškem, the nearby Bistra valley and the sports centre in Ravne. Experience the silent excitement high above, a touch of the Alpine exotic and thrill on the terrain appropriate for ski touring under the peaks of the two-thousand-metre mountains Peca, Raduha and Olševa.

The vast whiteness will impress you the most during the active exploration of nature. Are you more interested in walks or slightly longer all-day hikes? Put on your snowshoes or krplje and step out into the really deep snow. You can explore the paths on your own or you can be accompanied by experienced guides. You can search for animal tracks or create snow igloos in the winter world. At the end of January, you can compete in constructing a “snow castle for King Matjaž”.
