On the slopes above Kotlje stands Prežih's Cottage, the former home of the Kuhar family and a place connected to the life and work of Slovenian writer Lovro Kuhar – Prežihov Voranc (1893–1950). The Kuhar family purchased the cottage in 1911, and since 1979 it has been established as a memorial museum that brings visitors closer to the writer's life, his work, and the environment from which he drew inspiration for his literary creations. The modest wooden cottage represents a typical Carinthian dwelling of a small farmer or cottager. The furnished interior with a black kitchen, living room, small room, and farm buildings depicts the way of life at the beginning of the 20th century and the conditions in which Prežihov Voranc grew up. The museum presents personal items, the writer's life story, and the stories of people and places that marked his creative work.
Additional features have also been arranged alongside the memorial museum, including the 19th-century Kravperk granary, a traditional garden and orchard, which bring visitors closer to the characteristics of a former farmhouse. Prežih's Cottage thus connects literary heritage, folk architecture, and the stories of the Carinthian region.
Open: From May to October on selected days (weekends and Fridays during summer), between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM, and by appointment.
