Prevalje Climbing Centre

The Prevalje Climbing Centre is one of the most modern climbing centres in Slovenia, offering top-tier conditions for beginners, recreational climbers, and professional athletes with its high climbing walls, bouldering areas, training systems, children's programmes, rehabilitation wall, and competition infrastructure.

With the new Prevalje Climbing Centre, the Koroška region has gained a modern climbing facility that offers excellent training conditions for locals, recreational climbers, athletes, and visitors from Slovenia and abroad. The centre features climbing walls up to 18 metres high, with a total of approximately 1,800 m² of climbing surfaces located inside the building and on the external north wall. Adjacent to the exterior wall, there is also a grandstand and spectator area designed for watching competitions and other climbing events. Visitors also have access to approximately 400 m² of bouldering walls and various specialised training systems. The 'Džungla' (Jungle) climbing hall is dedicated to the youngest climbers, their first climbing steps, and climbing birthday parties. A separate room houses a rehabilitation climbing wall, while the multi-purpose hall on the second floor is suitable for lectures, workshops, and other accompanying activities. A welcoming bar is available to visitors next to the reception, and there is also a playroom for the youngest guests. An astronomical observatory is located on the terrace at the top of the building.

The Prevalje Climbing Centre stands out for the quality of its climbing surfaces, holds, auto-belay devices, specialised training systems, the diversity of routes set, and thoughtfully designed areas for children. It is designed to enable climbing for a very wide range of users – from the youngest and beginners to recreational climbers, experienced climbers, and professional athletes. A special value of the centre is its direct connection to the primary school on the first floor, which also features a climbing area for children. This connection provides an exceptional sports and movement experience for the youngest and places the centre among the rare climbing facilities with such a direct link between sports infrastructure and the school environment.

The Prevalje Climbing Centre features over 10,000 holds from twenty-two world-renowned brands, including five brands selected for route setting at the Paris Olympic Games. All materials that are part of the climbing infrastructure are of high quality, manufactured using modern technologies, and adapted to the highest standards. The centre has a rehabilitation climbing wall with an adjustable incline and integrated multifunctional training systems for various climbing levels. The training system can also be used separately from the climbing wall. This device was developed in collaboration with the 360holds brand and the Rehabo rehabilitation centre from Divača. The Prevalje Climbing Centre is the first climbing centre in Slovenia where, in addition to the classic speed climbing route, there is also a speed climbing route adapted for children.

The speed climbing wall is the second indoor speed climbing wall in Slovenia that meets speed wall standards, allowing year-round training for climbers in this Olympic discipline. Among the centre's special features is the symmetrical 'train to climb' wall, designed for coordination and dynamic movement training, adapted for both children and adults. The 'Džungla' children's climbing area and playroom are thoughtfully integrated with the climbing walls, offering children a special experience of play, movement, and exercise. Five auto-belay devices with top-rope belaying allow climbing even for visitors without a climbing partner, thus opening up climbing to a wider range of users. One of the devices also enables automatic belaying from below, and with a combination of electronic and mechanical belaying, it ensures a safe and high-quality climbing experience. On the outdoor recreational wall, there is also a via ferrata, or a route for training with via ferrata sets, which allows preparation for climbing on protected climbing routes. The outdoor climbing wall meets the standards for hosting top-tier competitions.
